| First
produced in 1950, the DB18 Empress was the luxury
coachbuilt version of the DB18, costing 3 times
the price of the standard model. It was the most
expensive medium sized Daimler ever produced. The
aluminium body was made by the Royal Coachbuilders,
Hooper, and was the first example of the famed “Empress”
line, later to be put on larger chassis both by
Daimler and Rolls Royce. Considered by many to be
one of the most elegant cars ever made, 95 were
produced, some 60 of which are known to the owners
club. This particular car dates from 1950, and was
completely rebuilt some 10 years ago. The paint
finish is now French Navy over Cream, the interior
in red leather. The wood veneers are Australian
maple. The extremely luxurious interior means that
the car is particularly suited to the more petite
Bride. We recommend either our French Navy or Cream
DS420 Limousines as accompanying cars where necessary. |
